ABOUT THE STUDIO

The studio was founded in 1982 and has produced a small, considered body of residential work across Texas, New Mexico, Georgia, Florida, and California. Each project begins with the land — its orientation, its weather, the quality of its light — and grows from there.

The practice is intentionally modest in scale. A handful of houses are taken on each year so that the principal remains involved through every decision, from siting to the final detail of a doorframe or sill. Clients tend to stay close, and many return for a second or third project.

Today the studio is based in Santa Fe, New Mexico, where it continues to design private residences and a small number of homes for sale, while accepting commissions elsewhere when the project and the place feel right.
